Most of our frames are “one size,” designed to fit a wide range of faces. A few styles come in multiple sizes. Use your current glasses as the best reference, or follow the quick steps below.
1) How to read frame size (on your glasses)
Look inside the temple (arm). You’ll see numbers like: 52□18–140

Match these to the new frame for the most reliable fit.
2) Quick fit by face width (no glasses handy?)
Use a ruler (millimeters) across your face at the pupils, or try the “credit-card test” (a card is ~54 mm wide).

Carrera
Motorsport, in Optyl
Founded in Austria in 1956 by Wilhelm Anger and named after the Carrera Panamericana road race. Unlike the fashion houses, Carrera began as an eyewear company, and Optyl — Anger's 1964 patent — is still its defining material.

What is Optyl?
A heat-cured plastic that Carrera's founder Wilhelm Anger patented in 1964. It is around 20% lighter than acetate and returns to its moulded shape through a memory effect. It is still used in Carrera's heritage-revival frames.
Who owns Carrera?
Safilo Group, which acquired the brand in 1996. Carrera is a Safilo house brand rather than a licensed fashion name, and the headquarters moved to Padova, Italy after the acquisition.
Where does the name come from?
The Carrera Panamericana, the Mexican road race. The brand was founded in Austria in 1956 as a sports and performance eyewear maker.
Which Carrera models are the heritage ones?
Champion, Endurance, Safari and Panamerika, reissued as the Icons line for the brand's 65th anniversary and sold as CHAMPION65, ENDURANCE65, SAFARI65 and PANAMERIKA65. They are remasters of 1980s originals.
What is Carrera Ducati?
A motorsport line using carbon fibre and titanium with wraparound fronts and straight temples. The partnership is confirmed to run to 2029.
