Lens thickness: pick by prescription strength

A higher index bends light more, so the lens is thinner and lighter. The difference shows most in stronger prescriptions.

Any sunglasses frame on the site can be fitted with your prescription in a solid or gradient tint, or in photochromic grey or brown.

  • 5 Most prescriptions are valid for one year
  • Type it in SPH, CYL, AXIS, ADD and PD if you have it, in the prescription step of the lens selector.
  • Upload a photo or PDF A clear photo of the slip or a PDF up to 5 MB. We read and enter it for you.
  • Send it after checkout Choose "Add it later", place the order, and send your prescription on WhatsApp or by email. We start cutting once it arrives.

FAQ

Prescription lenses: common questions

How much do prescription lenses cost in the UAE?

At OptiVision, single vision lenses start at AED 250 (50% off the 1.50 index), progressive from AED 900 and office lenses from AED 1,500, on top of the frame. Coatings add AED 100–300.

Can I get progressive lenses in any frame?

Most frames with enough lens height take progressive lenses. Our team checks the fit before the order is processed and will suggest an alternative if a frame is too shallow.

Which lens thickness should I choose?

Up to about ±2.00, standard 1.50 is fine. Around ±4.00, choose 1.60. From ±6.00, 1.67 or 1.74 keeps the lens slim. If unsure, pick 1.60 and we will advise if a different index suits you better.

Do you offer anti-glare and blue-light lenses?

Yes. Anti-reflective coating is AED 100 and the blue-light filter is AED 200, available on every lens type including non-prescription.

Can I order without my prescription?

Yes. Choose "Add it later" in the lens step, check out, and send your prescription on WhatsApp or email afterwards.

Do photochromic lenses work in the UAE sun?

Yes. They react to UV and darken fully outdoors. Behind a car windscreen, which blocks most UV, they darken only slightly, so a dedicated sun pair is better for long drives.

Can my sunglasses have prescription lenses?

Yes. Prescription sun lenses fit most sunglasses frames, with tints and photochromic options. Highly curved wrap frames have limits; we confirm before processing.

Can you put new lenses in my existing glasses?
